From Our Clients:
NW Forest Properties handled the sale of a timber property for 11 of us partial owners. This was a special case with court settlement considerations and easement problems. Fred Sperry proved to be very knowledgeable and adaptable to all situations and got in there with his feet on the ground and the sale happened. I fully recommend NW Forest Properties.
I have known Fred Sperry for over 10 years and he has sold several timber properties for me, some of which had challenging issues involved. Fred is innovative, professional and honest. I will continue to do business with Fred as he is reliable and very good at his profession.
We have had very good service from NW Forest Properties. The entire staff is very helpful and straight –shooting. Fred Sperry and Tim Gurton helped us purchase the three parcels of forest land that is now our family forest which has provided a great deal of joy and learning for our family. Fred and Tim are competent, courteous, professional, and work hard to find properties that match client objectives. They not only bring real estate expertise, but, more importantly, forestry expertise, including land and timber values, log and timber marketing, growth and yield projections, general land management, and land use (easements, etc.) We recommend NW Forest Properties to anyone interested in the many services they provide.

I am not one who normally does testimonials but in this case, one is warranted. We live in California and owned a tract of Oregon timberland, with a lot of merchantable timber; that we wanted to sell. I contacted a relative in Oregon, who was in Real Estate, and asked for a referral. He consulted his associates and recommended Northwest Forest Properties. Fred was a forester as well as a realtor. He was well known and respected in the Oregon Timber Industry. He was just what I was looking for. In preparation for the sale, we found Spotted Owls on the property. Fred's good advice, professional support and honest representation was invaluable. He worked with the State and neighboring landowners to resolve the matter very professionally. He helped us find prospective buyers, sell the property and mitigate the Owls. We were very happy to do business with Sperry Ridge and recommend them highly.
Words are inadequate to express our heartfelt admiration for and gratitude to Fred Sperry and Lauren Read of Northwest Forest Properties. Working with them was a wonderful experience from start to finish—particularly for utter novices in the intersecting realms of real estate and timber. The positive tone was set from the first e-mail to Fred, auto-forwarded from a property listing site at the end of the winter holidays and filled with questions. Not only was the turnaround on a response prompt, but every question was answered, thoughtfully and fully. Discussion on the phone was equally thoughtful and thorough. Within days of first contact, we were writing up an offer for the property—or, more accurately, as we were unrepresented real estate novices living in another state, Fred was writing it on our behalf, including suggesting contingencies that we would never have thought of on our own. When we ran the resulting documents past a friend who is an attorney with multiple years of experience in title insurance, she was impressed and had nothing to add. Although never officially acting as our agent, Fred—and a bit later in the process, Lauren—made us feel as heard, respected and cared for as if they had been working on our behalf, even as they worked to get the best outcome for their client, the seller. They were unfailingly generous with their time and expertise, offering insights and explanations without ever seeming frustrated by our lack of experience or knowledge. In fact, without their care, we may not have been confident enough to go through with the purchase of the property. They were both endlessly patient and responsive throughout the process—one which experienced multiple ups and downs over the three months from first contact to closing—whether over the phone, via text or e-mail, or in person, when we came to visit the property. We never felt like our questions or concerns were silly or uneducated or annoying—even when, given our inexperience, they frequently must have been. The positive experience has lasted beyond closing on our small piece of forest paradise, whether meeting for breakfast after closing to introducing us to neighbors to walking the land and giving advice and counsel regarding care for the trees. Everyone at Northwest Forest Properties has made us feel like more than simply buyers or clients; they have made us feel like friends.

Every owner thinks their property is unique and should command attention and a fair price. Our two contiguous F2 zoned parcels totaling 114AC, fronting on Hwy 101, one with a custom home and the other with a double-wide suitable for a replacement permit was no exception. Marketing these registered tree farms located within 15 min of a city required specific skills and time. The first agents we contracted with were skilled in selling local homes but not forest property. While they showed the property fairly often they did not deliver on the promised drone flyby video and unique emphasis on the broker web site. We elected to relist with NW Forest Properties to emphasize the forestry/tree farm aspects of our property and to attract potential buyers with energy and willingness to take on forest management. Broker Lauren Read created three detail listings (one for each parcel and a third for the combination of the two) resulting in extensive exposure on the NWFP and MLS web sites. They delivered on the drone fly-by video in a short time and included it in the initial web site listing. Additionally, on their own they set wildlife cameras to record elk, deer and bear visiting the property. People will tell you that the internet sells property. Our experience is that the internet can introduce your property but forest land is more complex than just location and price. Potential buyers need to be personally guided through zoning, access, water rights, tax advantages, historical use, growth boundaries as well as the energy required to properly care for a forest. In the end, we are more than satisfied with the new owners, sales price and the service of NW Forest Properties in finding buyers for our unique properties.

We made the right choice to work with Fred and his team at NW Forest Properties! He was knowledgeable about the timber industry and gave great advice on how best to prepare our large timber property for marketing. He and his team marketed the property thru their extensive contacts list, and kept each of the multiple property owners informed of his weekly progress and answered questions from all of us. When a difficult situation arose regarding an access road that encroached upon the neighbors property, Fred was instrumental in helping coordinate an access agreement within a short time frame, so we were able to close the sale with an agreement in place. He went above and beyond what I would have expected from a realtor, and truly cared about getting the right buyer for this property. I highly recommend NWFP!
NW Forest Properties brokered the sale of our family timberland property last spring. From our first meeting Fred demonstrated both professionalism and enthusiasm for the possibilities of marketing our property. He and Lauren toured the place extensively and gave us specific advice that helped us prepare the place for sale. Their marketing package was effective and resulted in a successful sale for our family. We know Fred's help smoothed the whole process so we could move forward. Thank you NW Forest Properties for helping us sell our timber property.
